GoogleMail offers a cool and easy to use interface for sending and receiving emails. Popularly known as Gmail, the service started back in 2004 when it was an invitation only service. It offers over 10GB of storage, free POP3, SMTP and IMAP protocols, a host of security features including improved anti-spam and manual filtering options and countless other intuitive features which has ensured it has a stranglehold on the market as the number one email service provider.
Signing up with Gmail is easy following these steps:
1. Open your browser and enter the URL Gmail.com and hit enter. The URL should automatically redirect to the Gmail sign-in page.
2. Look for a link “Create an account”. Clicking it should take you to the Gmail sign-up page.
3. Enter your first name & last name, choose your username, create a password & reconfirm it by entering it again in the following input box. Enter your birthday and gender as well which are mandatory. You may choose not to enter your Mobile phone number or your current email address. If you don’t have a current email address then skip this step. Your mobile phone will be used in case you ever lose your password or someone hacks into your email account and you want to get back the access. Gmail security team will send a SMS to your mobile number which is required to be entered into the security box for confirmation of your ownership and get the access back.
4. Confirm the captcha security entry by typing the characters mentioned on the small white box. If the captcha characters are illegible, refresh it and get a more legible set of characters. You can even opt to have the characters read out to you (for visually challenged users) or download a MP3 to be played on your favorite MP3 player.
5. After entering the characters check the “I agree to the Google Terms of Services and Privacy Policy” and Google +1 policy boxes.
6. Now hit “Next Step”
You will be shown a page like this if you have entered all the mandatory details and also entered the correct captcha characters.
If you have not entered all the mandatory details or the correct captcha characters, then an error page such as this will be shown to you.
Correct the details as required and then retry. On successful attempt your Gmail account will be created and you will be redirected to a page like this.
